The King is Dead--
Long Live the King ?

Folks, the end of Guatemalan adoptions as we have known them for many years arrived at 12:01 AM on December 31, 2007. This is exceedingly sad to acknowledge, but the reality is that the year 2008 has ushered in a new era of Guatemalan adoptions, such as we have never seen before, and such as we would never want to see. (Caveat--if the new adoption law is overturned in the Guatemalan courts as being unconstitutional, then we will sing another song.)

It is our prediction that it will take nearly a year for the new system to be up and running, and thereafter the process will be a nightmare for adopters and children alike; even worse will be the transitional period, within this calendar year, during which no NEW cases will start and children will suffer greatly. Thank you, UNICEF, and thank you ex-President Oscar Berger, and thank you, supporters of the Hague system of adoptions within the US State Department--thank you for destroying a system that functioned, without replacing it with a viable alternative.

But--we are not going out of business.

We will complete all cases that we have started.

re-creating it in Texas as a brand-new legal entity.
